Williamson Outfitters offers guided wild hog hunts along the Forgotten Coast of the Florida panhandle, providing an exhilarating and unique hunting experience. You meet your guide at a designated boat ramp before daylight then head out on the water. The guide assess wind direction and conditions to find the best spot for the catch dogs to track wild hogs. As you approach, the eager dogs often leap into the water, excited to find their quarry. Upon landing, the dogs utilize their keen sense of smell to locate the feral hogs. Depending on the size of the hog, the dogs may catch and hold it or bay it until the hunters arrive. Hunters then decide on the fate of the hog; they can either dispatch it with a knife if caught, or take a careful shot with a gun if it is bayed, ensuring a clear line of sight. In favorable conditions, it’s common to catch or bay 2-3 hogs during a single outing. Some clients seek to harvest a hog for processing, while others prefer to enjoy the thrill of the hunt and watch the dogs work, opting to release the hogs after the experience.

What Clients Need to Bring & Wear:

The primary challenge on these hunts is navigating the muddy swamp. We recommend hip waders as the best option for staying dry while moving through the water. Chest waders can be cumbersome and hot, while rubber boots often aren't tall enough and end up filling with water. Hip waders strike the perfect balance.

If hip waders aren’t available and clients don’t mind getting muddy or wet, a good alternative is a pair of lace-up boots or athletic shoes for better mobility. 

Keep in mind that temperatures can be chilly during fall and winter hunts, so layering is essential. Be sure to bring extra layers for warmth while traveling to and from the hunting locations.

Deposits are non-refundable, however if the captain must cancel your trip you will be given the option to reschedule or receive a refund. Cancellations due to weather will be at the discretion of the guide.
